Tenants and staff in Kingston and Belleville often ask whether the night crew uses “green” products. The useful answer is specific: which products, on which surfaces, mixed how, and what happens when a floor or washroom needs a different chemistry. A blanket non-toxic claim is not a program.

Frequencies still matter. A “green” nightly clean that skips washrooms is not an environmental win. Match the visit count to occupancy. An empty Friday office does not need the same list as a Monday medical reception.

Regular or eco-friendly options can be discussed against the surfaces on site. A greasy back-of-house floor and a reception desk are not the same problem. The scope should say where each product class is used.

Indoor air, fragrance and occupant complaints

Strong leftover fragrance is not a measure of clean. Many workplaces now ask for low-odour products because staff work in the space the next morning. Put that preference in writing.

Ventilation, winter dryness and old carpet all affect how a space feels. Cleaning can reduce dust load. It cannot redesign HVAC. Keep the promise inside the mop and cloth, not inside a wellness slogan.

If a tenant reports a reaction, stop using the suspected product in that zone and review the label and the SDS with the site contact. Do not argue on the night log.

What green cleaning does not replace

It does not replace disinfection when a site has requested a disinfection visit and a suitable product is specified. It does not replace grout restoration or strip and wax. Those are specialty methods with their own chemistry and dwell times.
